After eight years of marriage, Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena Djokovic are still growing strong with their two children.
It’s not always easy to be married to a superstar and Novak’s status as a tennis great means his family is almost always in the news.
In a recent interview with Flushing Meadow, the Serb admitted that marriage wasn’t easy and that it can sometimes be stressful.
“She [Jelena] runs with the wolf. It can be very stressful to run with the wolf. I know that she doesn’t enjoy it at all times,” he said.
“It’s kind of living on the edge with the wolf. [But] I love her, she’s my great support.”
When did Novak Djokovic marry his wife?
Novak and Jelena tied the knot in 2014 and have now been married for eight years. Recounting the day of their wedding, the tennis star said his wife looked elegant.
“Seeing her for the first time in her wedding dress, smiling and walking towards me… She looked like an angel,” Novak told Hello Magazine.
“I was trying to be present in that moment and memorise it. I was focused on her, and her smile, and our baby. It really was a perfect moment.”
Jelena also said she cried when she saw Novak on their wedding day, narrating: “I was very nervous and everything seemed a blur.
“I was seeing him through tears and immediately started crying when I saw him. “I was just so happy and probably being pregnant makes it quite difficult to control the emotions. I am so blessed to have him in my life. I couldn’t ask for a better partner than him.”
Where did Novak Djokovic marry his wife?
Novak and Jelena exchanged their vows at the Aman Sveti Stefan Resort. The resort is a small islet and coastal five-star hotel in Montenegro.
The Sveti Stefan is overlooked by Villa Milocer, a graceful stone residence which used to be the residence of Queen Marija Karadordevic.
