Novak Djokovic has been racking up impressive victories since he made his professional debut in 2003 and he doesn’t look like a man who’ll be slowing down anytime soon.
The Serbian tennis star is the reigning champion of the Australian Open and also the holder of several records that’ll take something special to break.
Djokovic, though, is a typical family man and has been sighted on occasions with either his parents or his wife and kids. In a recent interview, the 35-year-old was asked about retirement and he joked that his mother will shed tears if he quits the sport.
“I’m sure my mother will cry a lot. There is still a long time before that happens. I’m not close to retirement and I don’t think about it too much,” Djokovic said.
Who is Novak Djokovic’s mother Dijana Djokovic?
Novak Djokovic’s mother Dijana Djokovic. Dijana is Serbian and ran a fast-food parlour to support her husband Srdan Djokovic.
Dijana has often been vocal with her support for her son and vividly defended Novak when he was photographed in public in January 2022 despite testing positive for COVID-19.
“He didn’t know, probably, he didn’t know because when he realised he was positive then he go to isolation,” she said at the time.
“I realise that this is not over yet and we are all praying that he will stay. Don’t throw him out, he is a tennis player, he is not politician, he is not a criminal, he is not a murderer, he’s just a tennis player, the best in the world, just let him play. He came to Australia to play and to win the Australian Open, this is his goal.”
Dijana’s love for her son is immense and more than just supporting his career, she also isn’t shy of telling people that Novak is the best tennis player around.
